MPCALA Holdings Inc. (MHI), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), showcased the construction progress of the upcoming Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange of Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) to the local chief executive of Silang town in Cavite on Wednesday, April 5.
The new 3.9-kilometer, 2×2 lane subsection will extend the operational section of CALAX from 14.24 kilometers to 18.14 kilometers and will connect to the Silang portion of the Aguinaldo Highway.
MHI shows Mayor Kevin Anarna 70% construction completion of the CALAX subsection, including remaining works on toll plaza structures, median barriers, bridges, drainages, and concrete deck slabs.
Kevin Anarna in a statement.
Silang local government assisted MHI and its government partner and grantor Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in resolving the right-of-way (ROW) issues that helped in speeding up the progress of the upcoming subsection.
Once operational, the toll road will help decongest the busiest highway in Cavite and will serve as a faster route going to the rising tourism industry of Silang town and to Tagaytay City. It is also expected to provide convenient access to an additional 5,000 daily motorists.
CALAX will expand to 45 kilometers by 2024 and will have eight interchanges namely Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, Silang (Aguinaldo), Governor’s Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit Interchange. As of now, its operational segments stretch from Mamplasan Rotunda up to Silang East Interchange.
MPTC is the biggest toll road developer and operator in the Philippines. Aside from CALAX and CAVITEX, MPTC also holds the concession rights for North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
