Kabuhayan, Kaunlaran is a Backyard Gardening Project of Metro Pacific Tollways South. It is an initiative that aims to collaborate with the LGU in achieving sustainability within its community through backyard vegetable production. This will give each family the skills in growing their food because it is one of the basic needs and an answer to the demands of our growing population amidst this crisis brought about by the pandemic.
On August 10, 2021, MPT South headed by the Stakeholder Management team donated 700 packs of vegetables and seedlings to the City Government of Paranaque. The total donation amounts to 560,000 pesos. The vegetable and seedling packs were divided into 16 barangays of the city. The vegetables are composing of pechay, eggplant, mustasa, kangkong, squash, etc. This project is a pilot project of MPT South to address the livelihood needs of the communities, especially during this pandemic.
To check the efficiency of the said project, the team will be doing regular monitoring rounds to the recipient barangays. The monitoring includes the status of the backyard gardening. This will be the time to see if the plants are alive and are the families able to cook something out of the backyard gardening.
Everybody looks forward to a positive outcome of this project because it will help many families and we will be able to do the same to other communities if found sustainable.
