MPT South Winners of the 7-minute Workout Challenge

by Erica B. San Diego, NOVEMBER 2021

Last April 2021, MPT South launched the 7 Minute Workout Challenge. The objective of the program is to improve the physical, mental, and emotional wellness of the employees.

From May 03 to October 31, 2021, employees who joined are required to upload a 7-minute workout or exercise for 120 days (20 videos each month). A total of 73 employees from across the organization joined but only four got the chance to win the prizes.

Let’s hear from the winners and their take on the 7 Minute Workout Challenge.

Third Place: EB Lorenzo B. Lusica, Tollways Development and Engineering

SOUTHLINK: What made you decide to join the 7-minute workout challenge?

LUSICA: In this time of pandemic, staying healthy is essential to perform work correctly and live productively

SOUTHLINK: Did you achieve your weight goal?

LUSICA: Not yet, but still pursuing my weight goal.

SOUTHLINK: How are you feeling right now after losing weight and reducing your waistline?

LUSICA: Being fit and healthy gives you the energy, the self-confidence, and the strength to let life take you where it will and enjoy life the fullest.

Second Place (Tie): Jobel L. Manansala, Operations Management

SOUTHLINK: What made you decide to join the 7-minute workout challenge?

MANANSALA: I have tried many times to go on a diet, but I always fail. But when I found out about HR’s activity on losing weight, I joined immediately. This activity challenged me because many employees also joined

SOUTHLINK: Did you achieve your weight goal?

MANANSALA: Yes, I’m satisfied with my body now. It is nice that I’m not having a hard time anymore finding something to wear just to cover my belly fat.

SOUTHLINK: How are you feeling right now after losing weight and reducing your waistline?

MANANSALA: I feel more comfortable and confident when dealing with people. I feel lighter unlike before that I am always trying to catch my breath every time, I climb the overpass. The more fun part is when there are people asking for tips on how to lose weight since they were inspired by my weight loss journey.

Second Place (Tie): Eduardo C. Sulasula Jr, Operations Management

SOUTHLINK: What made you decide to join the 7-minute workout challenge?

SULASULA: I joined the challenge because I wanted to change myself to get a fit and healthy lifestyle and the award makes me more eager to push myself harder to work out every single day. It’s the challenging workouts that truly test my limits.

SOUTHLINK: Did you achieve your weight goal?

SOUTHLINK: Yes, I worked hard to achieve this weight. Masabi ko na dugo at pawis at mahabang pasensya ang inilaan ko para lang ma achieve yung goal ko na timbang.

SOUTHLINK: How are you feeling right now after losing weight and reducing your waistline?

SOUTHLINK: I feel healthy and fit, stronger than before.

First Place: Victor Nazarene L. Tagaya, Tollways Development and Engineering

SOUTHLINK: What made you decide to join the 7-minute workout challenge?

TAGAYA: I decided to join the 7-minute workout challenge to reduce weight for an upcoming event. Reducing weight was totally out of my mind as preparation but I realized it would be better to do it and challenge myself.

SOUTHLINK: Did you achieve your weight goal?

TAGAYA: I didn’t and I did. I don’t have a specific figure or value of weight to reduce. It was difficult for me to target a specific weight to reduce as I was attending other ventures. My mindset was focused only to reduce weight whatever the value it would be, and I did reduce weight.

SOUTHLINK: How are you feeling right now after losing weight and reducing your waistline?

TAGAYA: It felt great. There are several items in my closet that I can use now but super tight on me before. It helped me realize that there is still hope for me to reduce weight. Although the reduced weight and waistline were not significant compared to my previous statistics, it was still an achievement for me.
