MCC 2021: Helping, Hindering, Moving Forward

by Sigrid C. Shun,DECEMBER 2021

December 1, 2021, Forty-three Management Council Committee (MCC) members met together to review the year 2021.

With members leaving and joining the MCC, the first order of the meeting was the “Get-to- Know” icebreaker where the MCC members joined six breakout sessions. In each group, the members introduced themselves and shared the “one thing” that they would like their colleagues to know about them and why. MPT South President and GM Bobby V. Bontia (RVB) very much appreciated the exercise where he said,

Chief Finance Officer Chris C. Lizo (CCL) walked through the 2021 MPT South Scoreboard enabling the MCC to identify the action steps to take to meet the revised targets for the year and prepare the organization for the coming year. The hindrances identified include:

  • Pandemic
  • Toll Leakages
  • Issues with contractor
  • Pending right-of-way
  • Customer pain points

In summary, CCL said, “While we have not met most of the targets we have set this year, I would not consider it a lost year, as we have gained a lot of experience in operating a toll road and building a toll road under these circumstances.”

A “must” according to RVB, “We have to translate what COMMITMENT means. It has to be translated into something concrete and actionable so that we are able to measure up when we say we need COMMITMENT from other Divisions and Stakeholders.”
