As many people say, you are a Filipino if you love eating so much food.
As we celebrate the Buwan ng Wika this August, let us introduce to you some of the famous delicacies in Cavite. For some, Cavite is known for its rich contribution in the Philippine history. Today, it stands as one of the places known for its adventures, mountains and other tourist hotspots.

Let’s look at Cavite’s diverse range of culinary delights from savory dishes to desserts.
- TABLEA DE BATIROL
More than just a regional food, Cavite’s Tablea de Batirol has a living history that unites people of different ages, cultures, and tastes. They began producing their own tablea way back in 1960, and by continuing to produce high-quality cacao goods, they have managed to remain in the market to this day. Their cacao is planted and harvested by locals of Alfonso, Cavite and processed by locals not just from Alfonso but also from its neighboring towns, providing a source of livelihood for farmers and artisans, fostering economic resilience within the community.
Last year, Biyaheng South collaborated with Tablea de Batirol. We had the opportunity to tour their facility and discover how they craft delicious chocolates.

- Asiong’s Caviteno Restaurant
Asiong’s is a local restaurant serving home-cooked Spanish-Filipino fare to Cavitenos. Built in the 1960s, it started as a small carinderia in Cavite City and is now a pride of the province of Cavite. It’s currently owned by Sonny Lua. All ingredients used in their viands are products of Cavite.

- Bibingkoy
Make sure to stop by at Aling Ika’s Carinderia early morning and get yourself a Bibingkoy. Made from glutinous rice dumplings filled with sweetened boiled monggo beans. This dessert uses freshly grated coconut milk and pandan leaves that really makes it more unique.
