Known as a catch basin for garbage from the Manila Bay, the CAVITEX Mangrove Area is constantly polluted by hazardous wastes that endanger local marine life. In 2014, the accumulated garbage had risen to such an alarming state that MPT South employee-volunteers spearheaded a coastal cleanup that eventually led to the creation of the LEAF (Living in Environment of Aqua-Flora and Fauna) Program of CAVITEX. Since then, we’ve partnered with different groups to raise awareness, implement greening projects, and establish a holistic program for pollution control and habitat protection through the spirit of volunteerism.
